Developments in the world of artificial intelligence bring with them questions of trust. Companies from Microsoft to Apple are investing billions of dollars. This leads to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence. Finally, Elon Musk predicted when artificial intelligence could reach human intelligence.
Elon Musk: Artificial intelligence could surpass humanity by the end of 2025
Last year, Elon Musk said that breakthroughs in artificial intelligence are moving this field forward faster than expected. As a result, he said that artificial intelligence could reach human-level intelligence by the end of 2025.
In an interview with the FT, the famous billionaire predicted that artificial intelligence systems that are smarter than any human will be developed in certain areas within the next year. In five years, he stated that artificial intelligence capabilities could exceed all humans.
This timeline is shorter than Musk’s previous predictions. Last year, he predicted that “full general intelligence” would be reached by 2029. But according to Musk, advances in technologies such as video creation tools and chatbots have accelerated progress.
The development of AI has previously been slowed by shortages of computer chips and data centers. But Musk said these constraints are starting to ease. He noted that the previous major obstacle was the Nvidia chips used in training AI models.
The new challenge, according to Musk, will be providing enough electricity to power large machine learning models. Musk predicts that in a year or two, just securing the electricity supply will be enough for AI.
